House fire leads to arrest of Paulden transient Alicia Webb

Sedona AZ (July 7, 2014)On July 5, 2014, 23-year-old transient Alicia Webb was arrested on several charges including arson of a mobile home.

Just after 8:30 in the evening on July 5, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the 25000 block of North Cottonwood Lane, Paulden, Arizona, after a neighbor reported a mobile home fully engulfed in fire. Fortunately, its residents had been away from the home since noon and arrived shortly after the deputies began an investigation.

Neighbors told deputies they saw an unidentified female enter and leave the mobile home on at least two occasions after the residents left. The last time she was observed by neighbors was within an hour of a visible fire in the home. After noticing the fire, neighbors called 911 and then saw the same female pass by the burning home gesturing in satisfaction with the fire’s progress.

When the mobile home residents heard a description of the suspicious female, they identified her as Alicia Webb, an ex-acquaintance of one of the family members. Webb was found and detained near Highway 89 in Paulden. She admitted to the arson and a disposable lighter was in her possession.

Webb was arrested for several charges including Arson of a Structure or Occupied Structure, Trespass, Burglary, and Criminal Damage. She was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and remains in-custody on a $50,000 bond.

The investigation remains active.

arson 9999In a separate July 5 incident, around 8:00 in the morning, YCSO deputies arrested two suspects identified as David Wieber, 55, and his wife, Angela Wieber, 38, for a burglary in progress in Black Canyon City, Arizona. David was also charged with Criminal Damage and two counts of Theft and he remains in-custody at the Camp Verde Detention Center on a $5000 bond. Angela was additionally charged with Theft and Possession of Methamphetamine and remains in-custody on a $2000 bond.

Deputies were sent to the 33000 block of Old Mud Springs, after a neighbor called the off-site homeowner to explain unknown persons were inside her home. The homeowner immediately called the Sheriff’s office.

Upon arrival, deputies saw a white 2001 Oldsmobile sedan registered to the suspects parked in the driveway. The home’s front door which had been open, closed and then reopened. The suspects were ordered out of the home, and with assistance from Department of Public Safety officers, the property was secured and checked for additional suspects. None were found.

Angela Wieber admitted that she and her husband were “homeless” and had decided to stay in the home without permission from the homeowner whom she did not know. David Wieber’s explanation was different. He told
deputies that he was “renting” the home from a guy named “Greg” or “Gary” but was unsure how to reach him.

Deputies confirmed with the homeowner that she had never rented the property. Both suspects admitted to using the house for at least two days, and according to the victim, it appeared the suspects had rearranged portions of the home to their personal liking. It is unknown at this time if any property was stolen from the home.

During a check of Angela Wieber’s duffle bag, deputies found a quantity of meth along with a meth pipe. During a review of David Wieber’s personal property, deputies located numerous credit cards that were not associated with either suspect. The suspect’s vehicle contained burglary tools including various pry tools, punches, and an instruction book explaining how to pick locks.

As of today, at least one person from the Phoenix area has verified her credit card was stolen in a previously reported burglary. YCSO anticipates additional victims and additional charges will be likely in its ongoing investigation.
