Sedona AZ (March 30, 2016) – On Monday, March 28, 2016, at 4:49 p.m., a woman residing at a Winchester Drive, Flagstaff, Arizona home reported a suspicious person. According to the caller, a male approached her in the garage saying he needed help. He told her that people were after him and then ran away from the property. Due to his physical appearance and his actions, she believed the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

At 4:52 p.m., a second adult female called from the same area and reported someone trying to break through the back door of her home. She saw a man at the back door, hitting it and yelling “people were trying to get him.” She said he then went to a second back door before she locked herself in a bedroom to call 911. The man managed to break through the second door, entered and yelled “people are after me” before grabbing a kitchen knife and exiting the home’s front door.

Having just arrived home, the second caller’s husband was parking in his driveway when a man exited his home and approached him. According to the victim’s husband, the subject held a knife while walking toward him saying “people are after me.” He said the man appeared to be paranoid as he continuously looked over his shoulder. The husband stepped out of his vehicle and the man, approximately 15 feet away, dropped the knife. In an attempt to conceal himself, the suspect then crouched in front of the vehicle. The husband stepped on the knife, and an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer arrived and arrested the man.

The subject was identified as Sanjahsee Begay, 18. Begay was transported to the Coconino County Detention Facility and incarcerated on one count of First Degree Trespass (Felony), one count of Felony Criminal Damage, one count of Second Degree Burglary (Felony), and one count of Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor).
