Arizona Residential Burglar Nabbed by Game Camera

Winston Taylor Gallagher arrested for residential burglaries in the Williams AZ and Grand Canyon areas

Flagstaff AZ (November 28, 2012) – Eighteen year-old Winston Taylor Gallagher of Valle, Arizona has been arrested for Residential Burglary in Valle, a neighborhood located between Williams, Arizona and the entrance to the Grand Canyon. He is a suspect in several other robberies.

During the last six months, Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives have investigated approximately eight residential burglaries that occurred in the Valle area.

During one of the investigations, Deputies and the home owner discussed the idea of the home owner posting game cameras around his home in the event the suspect or suspects returned for a second burglary.

The home owner reported a second burglary at his residence that is believed to have occurred on October 31, 2012. He stated he had posted game cameras in strategic locations around his property and believed one of the cameras captured images of a possible suspect.

One of the officers who assisted with the investigation was a Sergeant assigned to the Williams Patrol District. The Sergeant viewed the captured images and recognized the person as Winston Gallagher. The Sergeant was familiar with Winston Gallagher from previous contacts with him.

On November 21, 2012, CCSO Deputies and Detectives contacted Gallagher at a residence at which he stays in Valle. During an interview, Gallagher made statements to investigators implicating him in the first burglary as described above.

Gallagher was arrested for one count of Residential Burglary, one count of Possession of Stolen Property, one count of Misdemeanor Theft, and one Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gallagher was taken into custody at the Coconino County Detention Facility.

On November 24th, 2012, Deputies received anonymous information which resulted in the search of an out-building on Gallagher’s property. During the search, they recovered approximately 20 items believed to have been taken during residential burglaries.

Deputies also received information from a caller that Gallagher frequently stayed at two different residences located in the Valle area.

On November 27, 2012, Williams District Deputies served search warrants at both homes identified by the caller. The deputies recovered 30 more items believed to have been taken during at least three of the burglaries that have been reported.

Detectives are continuing this investigation and additional charges are anticipated.

Anyone who lives in the Valle, Arizona area and has experienced a residential burglary within the last year is urged to report the crime to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at 928-774-4523.

  1. Wow that was unusual. I just wrote an very long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyway, just wanted to say excellent info.

Having been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as an official Wildlife Habitat, for years a tasteful sign was posted on OUR property (referring to my late husband who was a major participant in attaining our cerfificate).

Sometime, presumably in October when I first took notice, the sign was clumsily removed, possibly by some angy person(s) who left one screw in the fence to which the sign was attached along with splinters itself. I suspect it was promptly disposed of by being dumped in my own trash container which, when out front, is placed adjacent to where the sign once was located.

There is no doubt in my mind this was an act of vandalism; but without evidence, obviously, I’m unable to validate my suspicions.

My files contain substantial evidence to uphold the sign as having been within city code provisions, if for no other reason than “grandfather” status. Besides the date the certificate was issued, a small article appeared in the Sedona Red Rock News validating the time of our achievement.

That being said, I’ve ordered and received new signage from the National Wildlife Federation and will post it in a less accessible location on my property. And, guess what, my yard heretofore will be substantially supplied with “game cameras” to capture potential two-footed critters who, in my opinion, are much more of a nuisance that the four-footed variety.

Thank you for the great information provided in the above report.
