Arizona Interstate 17 Repaving Begins

ADOT photoSedona AZ (June 7, 2010) -The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will begin to resurface a 15-mile stretch of southbound Interstate 17 in the Verde Valley region on Monday, June 14, 2010.

Drivers who use southbound I-17 between the Red Hill Scenic Overlook (milepost 312) and McGuireville, Arizona are encouraged to allow extra travel time and expect delays due to necessary single lane restrictions.

Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for several weeks.  The project is scheduled to be finished by mid-July although work will not take place over the extended July 4 weekend.

While ADOT strives to provide current project information for drivers, commercial trucking firms and local communities, unscheduled closures or restrictions may become necessary.

The project hotline is 888-236-4374. For a complete listing of freeway and highway restrictions across Arizona visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.com or call 5-1-1. You can also visit the website  www.scenic179.com for current road work status and travel updates on SedonaEye.com.
