Arizona Interstate 17 Ramp Closings

Southbound off-ramp closed March 14, 2012

Northbound on-ramp closed March 15, 2012

Drivers who use Arizona Interstate 17 at night in the Prescott region should plan on and off ramp closures at the State Route 69 junction this week, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The southbound I-17 off-ramp to SR 69 will be closed Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 9 PM until 6 AM Thursday, March 15, 2012 to allow crews to set concrete girders above the highway for the new Cordes Lakes Road Bridge. Traffic will be detoured three miles southbound on I-17 to Bloody Basin Road (Exit 259) and then directed to turn around and use northbound I-17 to reach the SR 69 exit.

The SR 69 ramp to northbound I-17 will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday (March 15) to 6 a.m. Friday (March 16) and traffic will be rerouted southbound on I-17 to Bloody Basin Road (Exit 259) where drivers can turn to access northbound I-17.

I-17 also will be narrowed one lane in each direction through the work zone utilizing established crossovers. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph during nighttime work hours.

Bridge work will require alternating lane closures in both directions along I-17 this week (March 12-16).

The work zone and all detours will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

The work is part of a $50 million project to reconstruct the I-17/SR 69 interchange.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
