Arizona I-17 Lane Restrictions Alert

ADOT Interstate 17 logoSedona AZ (October 22, 2013) – The Arizona Department of Transportation is replacing highway signs along Interstate 17 as part of a statewide sign rehabilitation project today and Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

Crews will periodically restrict one lane of Interstate 17 from the State Route 260 and I-17 junction in Camp Verde to State Route 179, at the Sedona exit, as crews install new roadway signs.

The following restrictions will be in effect during work hours:

Tuesday, October 22:

•Northbound off-ramp from I-17 to SR 260 will be open however lane closures and speed reductions will be in effect through 5 p.m.

•Southbound off-ramp from I-17 to SR 179 will be closed for up to two hours between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers will be detoured to the McGuireville traffic interchange to northbound I-17 to access SR 179 toward Sedona. Also, one lane will be restricted under the SR 179 Bridge overnight between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. as crews install new signs under the bridge.

Wednesday, October 23:

•Northbound I-17 near the Middle Verde Road exit will be restricted to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

•Southbound I-17 near the McGuireville rest area will be restricted to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Flaggers and law enforcement will direct traffic in alternating directions using the single lane that is open. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph and drivers can expect minimal delays.

The lane restrictions will be in effect for up to two hours and drivers should allow extra time to reach their destinations. No major delays are expected, however, ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

  1. Restriping work in Flagstaff scheduled to begin on local streets tomorrow
    Minimal delays expected

    A local restriping project on local streets in Flagstaff is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 23 through next Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    Striping will between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily at the following locations: Fourth Street, Sparrow and Butler Avenues, Lake Mary, High Country, Pulliam and J.W. Powell roads. Minimal delays are expected.

    The work is part of a highway safety improvement project, which consists of restriping specified local roads and crosswalks in Payson, Globe, Sedona, Flagstaff, Cottonwood, and various locations in Apache County.

Work will begin on Monday, Oct. 28 on White Spar Road (State Route 89) in Prescott as part roadway improvement project from Copper Basin Road to Peterson Lane (mileposts 309 to 310), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Crews will start on the north end of the project near Copper Basin and begin working on the north side of the roadway on the shoulders. Two lanes of traffic will remain open at all times, minimal delays are expected.

    The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph through the work zone. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.

    The $4.6 million project includes widening the highway to include a two-way left turn lane and construction of new concrete curbs, gutters, bike lanes and sidewalks from Peterson Lane to Copper Basin Road.
