Sex offender fugitive Eric George McNeill arrested near Medford, Oregon, faces extradition to Arizona

Sedona AZ (September 20, 2012) – In Medford, Oregon, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Eric George McNeill, a 65 year old male, was arrested at a campground near Klamath Falls, by law enforcement officials from the U.S. Marshals, Oregon State Police, and Klamath Falls Police Department on September 19, 2012.

On July 26, 2012, Eric George McNeill was charged by the Yavapai County District Attorney Office (Arizona) with 22 counts of committing sex crimes against children.

Upon learning that McNeill may have fled Arizona, Yavapai County officials requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend him.

McNeill’s case was profiled on America’s Most Wanted television show on September 14, 2012. Based on tips that were received, information suggested that McNeil may be in the Southern Oregon area, possibly near Chiloquin or Klamath Falls, Oregon.

U.S. Marshals from the Medford office began their fugitive investigation and the search for McNeill began to narrow. On September 19, 2012, Deputy Marshals spotted McNeill’s vehicle at the Hagelstein Park, a roadside campground off Highway 97, approximately 8 miles North of Klamath Falls, Oregon. With the assistance from the Klamath Falls Police Department and Oregon State Police a felony traffic stop was conducted on McNeill’s vehicle, he was taken into custody without incident.

McNeill was transported to the Klamath County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Arizona.

Out of concern that there may still be a number of unknown additional victims in the community, a photograph is being provided as well as McNeill’s vehicle description, a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville 4 door, maroon in color, Washington License Plate (223 YJJ).
