Animal Control Officer Reports Dangerous Biker

yavapai county sheriff officeSedona AZ (May 21, 2013) – On May 18, 2013, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officer notified Yavapai County dispatchers of a possible DUI (Driving Under the Influence) motorcycle driver in the area of Henderson Road and Lakeshore Drive, Dewey. The motorcycle rider had been seen weaving and driving recklessly before stopping in the 9100 block of Newton Avenue.

Before the biker could leave the block, YCSO deputies arrived and found a 50-year-old Prescott Valley man extremely disoriented. Within a few minutes, deputies determined the man was having a diabetic reaction due to extremely low blood sugar, and that he was not under the influence of alcohol.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene and he was eventually released. He had been very close to losing consciousness, paramedics reported, which presented a grave danger to him and others while driving. An alert Animal Control Officer may have averted a potentially tragic situation for the biker and the traveling public.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260 or the YCSO website.
