American Red Cross Offers Sedona Courses

Sedona AZ (March 11, 2012) – While impossible to predict an emergency, becoming prepared to handle an emergency is possible at any time. The American Red Cross is an organization that provides individuals with training, vital knowledge, and skills necessary to respond to life-threatening situations with confidence.

Sedona Parks and Recreation in cooperation with certified American Red Cross Instructor Erin Estes, is offering a variety of Red Cross courses during spring and summer 2012. Classes will include CPR and First Aid, Lifeguard Certifications, Water Safety Instructor, and Basic Water Rescue.

All classes require advance registration to insure a class minimum. The Professional Life Guard course begins April 14, 2012. This class will be held on two consecutive weekends.

The Water Safety Instructor course begins May 11, 2012 and is beneficial for individuals interested in becoming swim instructors. Adult CPR and AED training will be held on June 8, 2012, a four-hour non-aquatic CPR class appropriate for anyone interested in learning life-saving skills.

The final class is the Basic Water Rescue Course being held on June 15, 2012. This four-hour class is appropriate for aerobics instructors, physical therapists, troop leaders, and others.

    Drumming Lessons! Look to your local Parks and Recreation Department for drumming lessons this spring and summer. Both Beginner and Intermediate lessons will be available for youth 12 to 18 years old. The instructor has been playing drums and percussion for over 10 years, and performing professionally since the age of thirteen. He has studied jazz performance at the New School of the Arts, he has become one of the most in-demand drummers for up-and-coming jazz and pop groups such as Monkey funk, The Blue Tone quartet, and The All-Star Combo at Scottsdale Community College (SCC).

    These four-week long classes for both beginners and intermediate players begin April 10 and June 5. Each class is one hour long, and the complete session is only $16 per student.
