Sedona AZ (July 17, 2013) – On the afternoon of July 15, 2013, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the ADOT storage yard in the 15000 block of Arizona State Highway 69 near Cordes Junction. An ADOT supervisor told deputies an estimated $5000 worth of aluminum light poles and bridge guard rail had been stolen.
The theft is presumed to have taken place between midnight on July 12, 2013, and 1:30 in the afternoon of July 15, 2013. The ADOT storage yard is surrounded by a chain link fence with a barbed wire top section. No obvious signs of forced entry were discovered.
The YCSO investigation is ongoing.
Details on the stolen items are as follows:
- (4) Aluminum light poles, 40′ foot long by 8″ inches at base tapering off to 4″ inch at the top. No light attached.
- (12) 4″ inch by 20′ foot long aluminum round pipe bridge rails

hack it up and sell it as scrap – very lucrative, or maybe they have a ranch and need some fencing…
We live in a aluminum-rich state.
Why don’t these folks go recover all of the aluminum soda and alcohol containers on our Arizona highways.
All of our Arizona Veterans highways that are rich in aluminum, metal deposits and other valuable items.
Just imagine the impact we could make in our highways if ADOT and the residents of Arizona aggressively worked to restore the beauty to “America and Arizona the Beautiful”.
The added benefit is exercise.
