ADOT Schedules Sedona to Flagstaff Work

Sedona AZ (March 22, 2012)ADOT work to trim vegetation along Arizona State Route 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff begins March 26, 2012 with lane closures required during work hours.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin trimming trees and brush to improve driver visibility. The work will require single lane closures from March 26 through April 13 during the work hours of 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday weekdays. During work hours, one lane will be closed and drivers will be directed through the work zone in alternating directions. Flaggers and signage will be on hand to help direct traffic.

Drivers are reminded to allow extra travel time and to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there are possibilities that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect the project schedule.     Construction to install roadway lighting in Sedona on State Route 89A from Dry Creek Road to Airport Road continues this week (starting March 25) through the end of April. The $4.3 million project also includes a new traffic signal at Andante Drive and roadway repaving from Arroyo Piñon Drive to just west of State Route 179.

    Placement of underground electric lines will require moving lane restrictions on SR 89A from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. In order to provide a safe work zone and improve the flow of traffic, signage and work crews will direct traffic around the work zones. Motorists will be unable to make left turns at some locations along the project area.

    Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage and observe posted speed limits which will be reduced in the work zones.

    Lane restrictions will be removed at the end of each work day and access to businesses will remain open throughout the project area.

    The Arizona Department of Transportation is continuing construction to install roadway lighting in Sedona on State Route 89A from Dry Creek Road to Airport Road.

    Crews are completing the installation of underground electric lines, which requires lane restrictions along SR 89A.

    The lane restrictions will be in place for the next two weeks from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

    The $4.3 million project also includes a new traffic signal at Andante Drive, roadway repaving from Arroyo Piñon Drive to just west of State Route 179, and sidewalk curb ramp improvements.

    The sidewalk improvements will ensure that the sidewalk ramps at the major intersections along SR 89A are in compliance with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage and observe posted speed limits which will be reduced in the work zones.
