ADOT Interstate 17 Update for December 18-21, 2012

ADOT Interstate 17 Update for December 18-21, 2012

Prescott AZ (December 18, 2012) – A major project milestone will be reached this week when the new northbound Arizona Interstate 17 to northbound State Route 69 flyover bridge opens to traffic, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The new flyover bridge is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Access to businesses in Cordes Lakes will remain open at all times.

In preparation for the flyover bridge opening, the following closures and restrictions will be in place (weather permitting) on SR 69 at Cordes Junction next week:

Tuesday, December 18:

Southbound Interstate 17 will be narrowed to one lane between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for crews to apply lane striping and install temporary concrete barriers.

Rolling lane closure on southbound SR 69 to southbound I-17 ramp between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to apply lane striping.

The work is part of a $50 million project to modernize the I-17/SR 69 interchange.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
