Absentee Voting Week for Embassies and Military

Washington DC (September 26, 2012) – It’s Absentee Voting Week! The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) encourages service members, spouses, their voting-age dependents, and overseas civilians who want to vote to visit FVAP.gov to register and request their absentee ballot, if they have not done so already.

Citizens should vote their absentee ballot as soon as they receive it and return it immediately to their local election office to ensure it arrives in time to be counted. If voters do not receive their ballot by October 6, 2012 FVAP recommends they complete and mail the back-up, Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) to their local election office. If, after submitting the FWAB, they receive their State absentee ballot, they should also vote and return it.

If both ballots are received by the deadline, only the State ballot will be counted. The FWAB may be submitted any time after submitting an FPCA.

Online voting assistants at FVAP.gov can help complete the FPCA and FWAB in minutes for the voter to download, print, and submit to the local election official.

If you’d like more information on the Federal Voting Assistance Program or need help with the absentee voting process, visit FVAP.gov for live chat assistance, call FVAP at 1-800-438-VOTE or DSN 425-1584 (CONUS)/312-425-1584 (OCONUS), or email vote@fvap.gov.

Remember, you also can contact your unit or installation voting assistance officers. And don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DoDFVAP and follow @FVAP on Twitter for election updates throughout 2012.

  1. Many of us in Arizona are outraged that Senator Jon Kyl voted to block a billion-dollar veteran jobs program. We want him to explain why he abandoned our veterans despite their high rate of unemployment and homelessness.

Sign my petition on http://www.SignOn.org urging Sen. Kyl to explain his vote against jobs for veterans.

After you sign, please share with your friends. This petition was created on SignOn.org, the progressive, nonprofit petition site. SignOn.org is sponsored by MoveOn Civic Action, which is not responsible for the contents of this or other petitions posted on the site.

    Thanks!
